Description

Water towers supplied steam engines with the necessary water for them to operate. Water towers in northern Maine had furnaces underneath to keep them from freezing during the winter. This water tower, built in about 1910, now owned by the Frenchville Historical Society, is on U.S. Route 1, in Frenchville.
